• Die Aktualisierung der letzten drei gemeinschaftlichen Dienstrechner nach Debian Lenny 5.0 und PHP5, wird auf das Wochenende des 6. und 7. März hinausgeschoben

  Der Migrationsprozeß zu Debian/Lenny und zu PHP5 ist für die neueren Server sigmundfreud.all2all.org und desmondtutu.all2all.org durchgeführt worden. Die Aktualisierung der letzten drei gemeinschaftlichen Dienstrechner, jesus.all2all.org, mohamed.all2all.org und martinlutherking.all2all.org, nach Debian Lenny 5.0 und PHP5, wird auf das Wochenende des 6. und 7. März hinausgeschoben. Dieses versieht Sie mit einem längeren Vorbereitungsfenster. Haben Sie bitte bis dahin Ihre Webseiten PHP5-kompatibel. Wenn Sie nicht die Kompetenz haben sollten, Ihre eventuell nötigen Webseiten-Aktualisierungen selbstständig durchzuführen, bitten Sie Ihren Webmaster dies zu tun.

• Reminder: Imminent upgrade of shared hosting servers to Debian Lenny 5.0 and abandonment of PHP4 for PHP5

  Starting from February 15th, the support team of all2all-Moving Art Studio will carry out the migration towards Debian Lenny of all the shared hosting servers which are still running under Debian Etch or Sarge. The principal constraint of this passage to a higher version of the system is the abandonment of the maintenance of the packages of PHP4 and the obligation to pass to PHP5 which will be the only version of PHP from now on available. Please check your sites and prepare for PHP5 compatibility if necessary.

• End of the support for Debian Etch 4.0 starting from February 15th, 2010. Obligatory migration towards Debian Lenny 5.0 and abandonment of PHP4 for PHP5

  The support team of Debian informs us that there will be no more safety updates for Debian Etch 4.0 starting from February 15th. Consequently, the support team of all2all-Moving Art Studio will carry out the migration towards Debian Lenny of all the servers which are still running under Debian Etch by February 15th. • Installation eines Glasfaserringes zwischen unseren 3 Rechenzentren

  All2all installiert seine Dienstrechner in drei Rechenzentren, die um Brüssel (Belgien) liegen: Nossegem, Diegem und Zaventem. Wir haben gerade einen Glasfaserring in Dienst genommen, um diese drei Standorte mit einem internen Glasfaserring von 10Gbps miteinander zu verbinden. Diese Neuentwicklung macht es möglich, Server zu synchronisieren, die an den verschiedenen Plätzen gelegen sind, um hochgeschwindigkeits Offsite-Sicherungskopien und eine alternative Internet-Verbindung im Falle eines Bandbreitenmangels sicherzustellen.

• Achtung, Iframe-Viren können Ihre Webseiten befallen!

  Kürzlich haben wir eine drastische Zunahme an automatisierten Angriffen auf Webseiten feststellen müssen. Es handelt sich dabei um einen Trojaner, der über den infizierten PC des Benutzers, FTP-Passworte ausfinding macht und dann via FTP bösartige Iframes in die Webseiten einlässt.

• Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 veröffentlicht

  Das Debian-Projekt freut sich, die offizielle Veröffentlichung von Debian GNU/Linux Version 5.0, Codename "Lenny", nach 22 Monaten fortlaufender Entwicklung bekanntzugeben (14.2.2009). Debian GNU/Linux ist ein freies Betriebssystem, das insgesamt zwölf Prozessor-Architekturen unterstützt.

  Die Verfügbarkeit und Aktualisierungen von OpenJDK, dem GNU Java Compiler, dem GNU Java Bytecode-Interpreter, Classpath und anderen freien Versionen der Java-Technologie von Sun in Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 erlaubt es uns, Java-basierte Anwendungen im "main"-Depot von Debian auszuliefern.

  Weitere Verbesserungen in der Systemsicherheit stellen die Installation von verfügbaren Sicherheitsaktualisierungen vor dem ersten Neustart durch den Debian-Installer, die Reduzierung von "setuid root"-Programmen und offenen Ports in der Standardinstallation und die Verwendung der Härtungsfunktionalität des GCCs beim Bau mehrerer sicherheitskritischer Pakete dar. Verschiedene Anwendungen haben auch spezielle Verbesserungen erfahren. Beispielsweise wird PHP jetzt mit dem Suhosin-Härtungspatch gebaut.

  Für Benutzer, deren Muttersprache nicht Englisch ist, unterstützen die Paketverwaltungssysteme jetzt übersetzte Paketbeschreibungen. Damit wird automatisch die Beschreibung eines Pakets in der Muttersprache des Benutzers angezeigt, falls die Übersetzung existiert.

  Alle neuen all2all-Server werden ab jetzt mit Debian Lenny ausgeliefert. Wir werden ausserdem bald die älteren Server mit diesem System auffrischen.

• Verbesserte Hosting-Backupmethode

  Wir haben jetzt einen neuen Backup-Prozessablauf für alle gemeinschaftlichen all2all Hosting-Rechner, der auf Rsnapshot und einem ausbaubaren RAID-Dateiserver basiert, also ein modernes D2D Backupsystem. Wir machen nun volle Sicherheitskopien von den letzten 7 Tagen. Jeden siebten Tag behalten wir vier mal pro Monat. Die MySQL-Datenbanken werden jeden Tag einmal vollständig, wie gehabt, an 31 Tagen kopiert. Dieses neue Backupsystem verbessert wesentlich die Sicherheit Ihrer Hosting-Daten. Alle Backup-Arbeitsabläufe finden wie immer nachts statt, wenn die Rechner im Leerlauf sind und die Belastung sehr niedrig ist.

  Der Ausdruck "disk-to-disk", oder "D2D", steht im allgemeinen für Festplatten-zu-Festplatten-Sicherheitskopien. Mit D2D wird eine Rechnerfestplatte auf eine Festplatte auf einem anderen Computer kopiert and nicht wie traditionellerweise auf ein Tape-Laufwerk oder Disketten. Die hautsächlichen Vorteile liegen in einem nicht-linearem Zugang zu den Sicherheitskopien, welches ein sehr schnelles Wiederinstandsetzen der Daten ermöglicht. Ausserdem können die Daten schneller aufgerufen werden, Restaurierungen laufen deshalb schneller ab.

• "Freiheit statt Angst": Weltweite Proteste gegen Überwachung

  Am gestrigen Samstag fanden unter dem Motto "Freiheit statt Angst – Stoppt den Überwachungswahn!" erstmals weltweite Proteste gegen Überwachungsmaßnahmen wie Vorratsspeicherung aller Telekommunikationsdaten, Flugreisendenüberwachung und biometrische Bürgererfassung statt. In mehr als 15 Ländern forderten Bürgerinnen und Bürger den Abbau von Massenüberwachung, einen sofortigen Stopp neuer Überwachungsmaßnahmen und eine unabhängige Überprüfung bereits beschlossener Gesetze. "Eine freie und offene Gesellschaft kann ohne bedingungslos private Räume und Kommunikation nicht existieren", heißt es zur Begründung in dem internationalen Aufruf. • Upgrade of Debian Sarge shared servers

  We will operate a system upgrade on all our older shared servers from Debian Sarge to Debian Etch. This affects all servers which have not been upgraded yet. The major change concerns Mysql (from version 4.0.24 to 5.0.32). The PHP upgrade will not be so important (from version 4.3.10 to 4.4.4). The upgrade will take place on the 33rd weekend (between the 15th and 17th of August).

  all2all is present at the Days of free software organised by the BxLUG on friday the 6th and saturday the 7th of june at the House of Cultures of Saint-Gilles (120 rue de Belgrade).

• Upgrade to newest version of Webmin-Virtualmin

  We have upgraded all our shared servers with the newest versions of Webmin (1.400) and Virtualmin GPL. The outstanding new features: easy creation of additional website ftp users, creation of additional admin users and improved backup options. The complete list of changes can be consulted here: http://www.webmin.com/vchanges.html. We also have changed the theme to the better structured and more intuitive Virtualmin-Theme. The former theme Stressfree is still available as an option: "Change Language and Theme" in section Webmin.

• 2 times more RAM in dedicated servers

  We have doubled the amount of RAM installed in our standard offers for simple 1HD dedicated servers (upgraded from 512MB to 1GB) as well as for recommended 2HD's dedicated servers (upgraded from 1GB to 2GB).

  Moving Art Studio has become a RIPE member and all2all, as a Local Internet Registry, is now able to directly provide IP address blocs to organisations which would need them.

• Nagios monitoring system deployed

  Nagios (www.nagios.org) is an open-source host, service, and network monitoring program designed to inform users of network problems before end users do. The monitoring function runs intermittent checks on hosts and services by using external plug-ins that return status information to Nagios. When problems are discovered, the program sends notifications out to administrative contacts in a variety of ways, from email to SMS. Current status information, historical logs, and reports can all be accessed through a Web browser. All shared and dedicated servers at all2all are now monitored 24/7 by a dedicacted health checking server system.

• New antispam/antivirus system online

  Today, 20th of June, we have installed a new dedicated antispam/antivirus server. The new filtering system is now on a dedicated 64-bit multiprocessing platform with 8 Xeon CPUs (2 Xeon Quad Core X5335 2Ghz FSB1333 with 8MB L2 cache). This new distributed setup also enables us to add new antispam/antivirus systems in a round robin load balancing configuration when the spam frequency increases in the future.

• Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 (Etch) released

  On April 8th, 2007, the Debian Project has announced the official release of Debian GNU/Linux version 4.0, codenamed Etch, after 21 months of constant development. See the release notes for detailed information on Debian Etch. We install now by default Debian Etch on all new all2all servers.

• Console Port Management system ready

  all2all has bought a new management console to control a server via the serial port: the CM4148 from Opengear. It enables to open an alternative path to the machine even when the Ethernet connection is down (because of a config error or too strict firewall rules). The CM4148 will be used in our dedicated server racks.

  First of all you should choose one of the different account types. You can find an overview and prices here : http://www.all2all.net/web-hostings/ Once you have selected the desired hosting solution, fill out the subscription form by cliquing on the "order" buton associated to it. You will then receive a confirmation email in return with all the needed information to make your payment. Transmission of loggin and password will only occured when the payment has been received. Please send us your PGP or GnuPG public key if you want to receive your password and username in a protected manner.
